On the forerunners.... are the screens well lit? I mean, would someone be able to see them in the woods.... is there a light on them? are they backlit?

I don't want to drop over $200 and not be able to read the darned thing.

Even before my trifocals I could see it. Why are you spending more than 200 bux? Are you getting the one with the HR monitor?

It has a pretty good light that can be made darker or brighter. I don't know if it will synch up with that website. If I get a chance I will try the site tonight and see if I can make it work.

It looks like you will have to use the pay account to integrate with your Garmin when you get it.

Look at Buy.com. You can find it for under 120 there. At least I did a month ago.

Either that's a big yard or I think you're missing the shortest routes. Shocked

No kidding! I let my friend use mine last week. Her and her DH mow a cemetary every week and she wanted to see how far she was push mowing. She had 7.66 miles pushing the mower. Shocked That's a big cemetary.

Not necessarily!

Although I agree that the cemetery appears to be large, the fact that she pushed the mower 7.66 miles doesn't mean that the area is large.

If the mower she used had a 20" or 21" cut, it would take many, many more passes to cut the entire area, which would mean that more walking was involved. However, if she used a professional mower, the cutting width would be at least twice that of the homeowner's mower, thereby decreasing the number of passes required to cut the grass in that area...in effect, reducing the miles walked while cutting.

Still, 7.66 miles IS a lot of cutting!

For comparison purposes...

1 acre = 44000 square feet (roughly)
44000 sqft = 220ft x 200 ft (how you break it up isn't terribly important)
If you have a 20 inch mower, you could say that you have an 18" cutting row, since you want some overlap. Thus with each pass you cut 1.5 feet. 200/1.5 = 133.33 passes.
133 passes x 220 feet per pass = 29333 feet = 5.55 miles.

Given that house, driveway, trees take up a good bit of space, I guess 4.5-5 miles of walking would be typical for an acre lot with house. Factor in having to back up and get areas that don't lie in straight lines, it's probably closer to the 5 miles. So we can guess that FB has somewhere in the realm of .5-.7 acres?
