Salad isn't an appetizer, it's what ensures an appetizer's uneventful exit.

I like poppers, which are jalapenos in some kind of white cream, fried like a doughball. I also like mini-crabcakes, and fried calamari.

Potato skins. No question. Loaded down with cheese, bacon, a touch of sour cream, those green things, and occasionally jalepenos.

Scallions, aka green onions.
Go, jalapeno poppers are best with cheddar, like they offer at McMenamin's.

Another vote for calamari. Also fried oysters (with hot sauce and lemon and cocktail sauce) and conch fritters.

Scallions, aka green onions.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't feeling like looking it up to verify or posting scallions then someone asking "why would they put [insert disgusting thing that scallions actually are] on potato skins?"
