Posted: 04/25/03 - 15:28 Post subject: possible roommate situation
I may have found a roommate to live with when my lease is up!
A mutual friend paired us up, this girl owns a house and needs to rent part of it to afford her mortgage I guess. And I need to pay less rent to afford school when I leave this circus job and go to school full time hopefully sooner than expected I go to meet her and see the house tonight. It sounds ideal but I'm a little nervous...we don't know eachother and I also think I'll feel like I'm living in her house well, because I will be But we'll see. All she has to do is say the right price and I'm in like Flynn. Which will be GREAT for my wallet...
But I've never lived with a "random" before...

I had a roommate once and NO MORE! I moved in with my sister when I was 19. In 6 months time she screwed me over royally. I figured if my own flesh and blood would do that who knew what someone else would pull. So I got my own place and lived alone, and I LOVED IT!! It all went downhill when I asked this cute fella who was mowing my grass for me to move in. Now half of my stuff is his.

Maybe living with someone you don't know that well might be a blessing? Provided she's not storing bodies in the basement, of course.
You'll both be doing your own thing and not have an overdose of time together as you might living with a good friend that you hung out with a lot. There will be an uncomfortable period of settling in, but if it's all you can afford it might work.

Uggh. That is the most awful story. I read it this morning.
Apparently this is a form of mental illness; people who believe they're saving animals and take on waay too many to care for, yet still believe that somehow they're helping them. They're called collectors.
It's a huge problem in horse rescue; you have to be very careful which rescues you deal with because many times the condition of the 'rescued' horses goes DOWN after they're bought.

The best roommate I ever had was a total stranger. Seriously - we weren't friends, we didn't hang out with the same people, and we had a total respect for each other's space.
That didn't happen when I lived with good friends. Not even close.

Make sure you get your own bathroom and all should go well.

Well, we don't have basements here at sea level, so thats a relief.
But thats kind of my thought, I won't lose a friend in this and it sounds like we're both going to be doing our own thing and probably won't be around eachother enough to get on the other's nerves or whatever.
I can afford to live 35 miles out in my parents guest room...but thats really not an option...

Time to dig another lock in the canal, Teddy.
Seriously, does she drink? When I drank and my roommate drank, that's all we did. Drink and work to pay for it. It was a wicked cycle.

Um, thats how my college roommate situations worked out so well!! But I figured its a little different now that we're "grown up" (or pretending to be). And especially now that I've lived alone (and love it) its going to be a bit of a transition. A lot of my questions should be answered in about 30 minutes.
