I hear ya bloo. I really like it when someone takes the initiative and gets me something awesome not on my list... but that almost never happens. Usually if it's not on the list, its not on the list for a reason. I just feel guilty when your present sits in the closet for years without use. Save yourself the effort, it really is the thought that counts. Just think about getting it and stop there. |
I'm the same way. I don't mean to be a brat but I like what i like. I'd much rather not get anything than receive some magenta Christmas sweatshirt with poinsettias and cats appliqued on it with puffy paint, and then feel guilty for hating it and resenting the space in my closet it takes up.  Rather than people having to scramble around trying to guess whether I would love a salad shooter or prefer a chia pet, just make it easy: if you aren't going to give me whats on my list of things I determined I needed/wanted then don't worry yourself or waste the money, I'd rather just hang out with you and buy myself whatever on my own time. is that so wrong? I enjoy giving gifts but I guess I don't receive them that well..
