My first ever AARP Membership application came. It only took them 6.5 years to find me.
I wonder what would happen if I lobbied for them to provide discounts to races... (I bet lots of them would think its motorized races)

OK little ones since you asked:
AARP (American Association of Retired People) is a very agressive organization that tries to enroll every American over 50. They tout themseves to Congress as a lobby group concerned with Medicare and Social Security issues but in reality, 90% of the AARP members just join for the discounts.
Usually what happens is you get your offer right around age 50. I had not gotten mine until yesterday 6.5 years after I turned 50.
My son got an offer when he was about 6 months old, wife has never gotten one either.

There's some decent discounts and all that. In this day and age I'm certain you could find as good, if not better, discounts on line. I remember seeing "AARP Discount" signs all the way down I 95.
They are very agressive marketers of Medicare supplemental insurance, life and auto insurance all geared to the retiree. The magazine is pretty good.
Since its only $ 12.50 a year to join many do. Problem is once you join, AARP now says they speak for you in Congress. Something you may not agree with.
