so uh, i can't even see nascar fans really enjoying this movie.

it's will ferrel and going in you kind've have to be guarded - you might get a really stupid funny movie (ie. old school) or you might get improv ferrel (ie. anchorman) or you might get that one he did with nicole kidman..

or you might get Dukes of Hazzard but substituting Daisy Duke with a french man, and Johnny Knoxville with a wise cracking Will Ferrel. true story.

bottom line is i didn't really get what i wanted from this movie - i might have even enjoyed it more if it was about a nascar nut, and not just a nut that happens to drive nascar. a lot of the best parts are in the trailer - and i must say, as non-classy as adam sandlers films were - he normally managed to make 90% of the movie funny, and you weren't suffering through for the next joke.

that's more or less what i felt about Ricky Bobby. yes there are some really good exchanges, dialogue that could've made the movie amazing (if it was used throughout) - but it's not. the story in between is mediocre at best and is not unlike riding a tour bus waiting for your next point of interest.

so yeah, it's a rental or a cheap theatre movie. but don't pay $8 for it.

just my two cents.

two stars outta five.

I laughed a few times, but wouldn't recommend it at full price either.

There are a few really funny scenes, but some are just embarrassing to watch. In particular when the kids are mouthing off to the grandpa. Not funny.

This is what I figured. We'll definitely wait to rent it. Neutral

Well, there must be something wrong with me mentally. Me and my two best girlfriends went and we laughed the whole time.

Of course, being from Oklahoma and having been on a pit crew in my teens, it was hysterical.

Oddly enough, we still quote it to each other. And then laugh hysterically.
