I guess that's what I did to DH today.  Anybody who knows us both knows we are like as opposite as can be when exercise/heatlth is involved. I am the workout nazi, he has aquired the nickname TURTLE at work and for NO REASON according to him.  He truly moves no farther then he has too. 
Well I had noticed that he appeared to putting on more weight the past couple years but wasn't sure. His DL says he weighs 220 but I figured closer to 250 and he said today prolly 230-240. Then I put him on the scale as he was walking past the gym scale after helping me change some florecent bulbs here at the gym. OK, I set him up.. Anyway, he weighted 255! He's no more than 5'7".  I could tell he was shocked. And I really felt bad for him but his Dad died of a freeking heart attack dammit and his Mom had heart issues too.
So a couple hours after that he cames back in the gym and he's just like standing around. I asked him if he needed/wanted something and he said he was looking for a water bottle for his BIKE! I really hope he sticks to some exercise this time. Don't worry, I'll be supportive.

his kid is enrolled in the 6pm tumbling class, can he just leave her there at 3pm?
Anyway, you sound like my mom and dad and my dad has dropped tons of weight and has been riding his bike daily, and his last physical showed dramatic improvement in all his numbers, so all that to say even the most stubborn men on the planet (uh, my dad) can change, I hope he does too, thats a scary family history.
