I'm sorry but if it came down to my own personal happiness and pissing off the in-laws, I guess they would just have to be pissed. Sorry. You only live once don't spend your life doing what everyone else wants you to do.

I know. You're right. I was trying very hard not to cry this morning after his tirade about having to be here for 2 HOURS!! Shocked yesterday re-entering data from the FILE I LOST and M saw I was about to lose it, and came and started doing the "toughen up" shoulder massage thing and whispered that it will only be another year. YEAH!! That's what he said last year.

Yes we do. Just think about poor Joel sitting in that chair about to get his face drilled off about now.

I'm glad to see some of the women on this forum have the attitude. When a man can guilt you into doing something you don't want to you are just a step away from having to cover your face and walk 10 paces behind him.

School her girls!!!!!!!

Your father-in-law is an a$$hole. Plain and simple.
Your husband, though, is being unbelievably self-centered (read: jerk) and is following in his father's footsteps.

Excuse me? No, hubby dear, your father does NOT need a punching bag. And NO he does NOT need ME as said punching bag.

in another post, you wrote:

Excuse me again hubby dear. Is there some reason why you cannot or will not say something to your father about the way he is treating me? And btw, it's known as harassment, and it's against the law.

in yet another post you wrote:

Because you are being used. And both you and your husband are letting yourself continue to be used.
You don't need this bullsh!t (and that's exactly what it is). Tell them so, and leave. Don't give FIL the satisfaction of saying "you're fired", because that's what he really wants. Who cares if they need you? YOU don't need them!
And, it doesn't matter if it's family or not, it's still harassment.

1 to everything Mindy said, especially the harassment part. If my boss did that to me (and we are not related) I'd fry his ass faster than he'd know how to counter. Family tends to be able to walk over you more than strangers for just those "political" reasons.

Think of it if the situation were reversed, and be VERY honest with yourself here....if Michael was working for your family and they were treating him like sh!t, would you speak up, or allow it to continue? Forget whether he can take care of himself, he's a guy and I'm sure he can, but would you let it happen??

Strong, definitely. Healthy? Well...
LE, your situation makes me angry. Not just the fact that you are letting this individual treat you this way. But the fact that your husband is allowing this individual to treat you this way.
And Genie's right. Because it's "family" we allow much more abusive behavior to happen than we would in the 'real world'.
And I wish I could come there and kick some butt, but this is time for YOUR roundhouse action!
