Hi, canalligator. good luck to you with your surgery. I also had surgery with Dr. Filler about a year ago. I had been in pain for 11 years. Many people on this forum have had surgery from Dr. Filler and some from other doctors. You may want to go back through some of the posts. Recovery can take time so be patient.
Let us know how it all turns out.
We will think about you Tafoya when you go to the pain management doctor. I will be curious to hear what he recommends.
Menzie how are you doing?
I just got back from babysitting my 3 grandchildren fortheweeekend. Am pretty tired so will get back to everyone later.

Those who aren't posting anymore are the ones who have the best results. Leesa, David, Margie, Donna Denise, Jo have alll had good results. Lynne has had good results but does have some flareups ati times. If you look back at early posts, Elliott had good results.
Don't get discouraged There are probably many who have lhad good relults but they aren't hanging out on forums.
Think positive. We will all be roooting for you.

Scamp: Thanks for the name of the drug and for the info. I have heard and tried a little bit of a method for osteoporosis, drug free, called Bones for Life. I know someone who had a bone density increase of 12 percent or more recently thanks to it. I really recommend it!!!
a link is:
http://www.bonesforlife.com/
I haven't tried it much because i am bed ridden so there is little I can do.. But for those you can walk and sit please look into it.
Catalligator: good luck with your surgery!!! WE will be thinking of you and please don't forget to post to tell us how you feel.
Big thanks to Scamp, Menzie, Nick... all of you who keep the forum alive and current, who wirte often, who welcome new people to the post, all of you who take your time to weekly or even daily. You make this forum a success. Thanks a lot!!!!!

i'm looking forward to a new life with little or no pain. this 5 years of piriformis syndrome was preceeded by 2 years of undiagnosed RSD with my knees. i'm so thankful that's been dealt with as it was by for more horrible. this is just a big, huge pain!

Hi everyone
I'm not getting message alerts any more either. Really frustrating. Sorry for all of you who think I've disappeared.
Menzie: Haven't got a new email address. In reality I've got 2 but if you can send a private message through the forum, then you know I'll get it. Have only had 1 message from you a few weeks ago and I replied. What's going on?
Tafoya: It's your Pain Management appt today. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
Shirley: REad your posting on the other forum - you jogged me to send you a message. Just wanted to ask you if you had been given the post-op instructions that Michael mentioned? Congratulations on being bootless - at long last. Made me laugh the antics you're adopting with the use of the half redundant boot! I really do hope you make it back to LA for another MRN. I wonder if we both have a build up of scar tissue. Have given up going to the Osteo now as the manipulation has made symptoms far worse. It reminded me of before the op when I used to try and do stretches. Dreadful flare-ups - and contrary to before when I was doing SO well, have taken a real backwards step. Am limping on walking due to pain around the SiJ. Could clearly be scarring which causes the nerve roots to yell in protestation. Could really do with another MRN myself. All a waiting game I'm afraid.
Brandon: Hey - where have you been? So sorry to find out that you too have been in so much pain and don't know what concoction to take. Nightmare. Try this, try that, try the other - apart from icing down, nothing for me really works. Keep us posted.
LSheppar: Great news. So pleased your hubby is doing so well. Amazing.
Canalligator: Good wishes for your op on the 5th. Traditionally Bonfire Night here in the UK! Meaningless in LA! Really hope your recovery is positive.
Keep posting everyone! Jo

Well guys, I had my apt yesterday and figured I would catch you all up.
First off, my pelvis was out of place. Took him a little bikt but he put it back in. I could actually feel it going back.
Next he said that he was very upset that all these MD's are wanting to do is take out pieces of me and see if that does the trick.
He feels that with my pelvis being outta place, that was causing pain and inflamation in my psoas muscle. He is going to do a series of 2 injections that I have to be sedated for and will see if my pelvis is outta whack again at each visit. About a month after the last injection, I will go back to him.
Of course, all this has to be pre-approved by my insurance co first and they ususally take a couple weeks to do the authorization.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Good luck to you canalligator tomorrow. Remember that the first few days are the worst and then it gets better from there.

Tafoya, I don't exactly understand a pelvis being out of place. Was it your SI joint? Anyway, I hope it helped and that the injections help. What kind of injections are they that you have to be sedated for?
Really hope you are feeling more hopeful and that whatever he does helps.
Keep us posted.
I have stopped wearing that boot on my foot soam hoping that I will start to be better in my surgery site.
Bye for now.

Hi Tafoya
Thanks for the update ref. your pelvis being out of whack. Is your Pain Management consultant also a chiropractic/physio? If your pelvis had slipped then I hope it now holds. Maybe this has caused inflammation. It maybe that the injections will be fluoroscopically guided? I don't think you'll be put out completely for these unless he intends some sort of manipulation. Like Shirley, more info would be great on the Forum.
Good luck!
Jo

Scamp and Jo
All that I know is that he told me that my pelvis was out of place and he put it back in. I think this made me worse but he also stated that this may have been my problem all along and no one else caught it. This then would have cause pain and inflammation in my psoas muscle.
The only thing that I know about the injections is that they will sedate me at least some for them. I have more info on it and will put it on here some time this weekend.
Sorry this is short and not much info but am hurting real bad tonight.
Thank you again

OK peeps - here is what I have on the injections that I will be having -
The psoas muscles is your core muscle of the body. Attaching to the spine at the 12th thoracic vertebrae and each of the 5 lumbar vertebrae, the psoas flows through the pelvis attaching into the lesser trocanto of the femur. A large massive muscle, it is located on each side of the spine and serves as a bridge between the trunk and the legs. The psoas muscle has two primary functions: When the leg is free to move, as when walking, it is a strong flexor of the thigh at the hip joint. When the leg is planted firmly, as when standing or sitting still, it bends the lower spine forward. This action is used to maintain the balance of the trunk when sitting.
An IV may be started so that relaxation medication can be given. You will be placed in a prone position so your doctor can best visualize your spine using CT or x-ray guidance. The nurse will place monitors to watch your heart rate, blood pressure, and blood oxygen level during and after the procedure. Then, the skin on your back will be washed in antiseptic soap. Next, the doctor may numb a small area of skin with local anesthetic. This may be felt as a stinging or burning sensation. The doctor will then direct a small needle using x-ray guidance into the psoas muscle. A small mixture of numbing medicine and anti-inflammatory will be injected.
Hope that helps

Tafoya,I am very aware of the psoas muscle. Before my surgery and the botox injections I had to keep that muscle continuously happy by stretching and doing trigger point work on it. Whenever the piriformis was spasming the psoas would also go into spasm. As long as I kept it well stretched and did trigger point work, I could keep it happy. Now it is not as much of a problem, but still it can act up and be quite sore as well as give me pain in that T12 area.
Hope the injection works. Let us know. You are the first person I have known to be getting an injection into the psoas so I will be very interested.
Take care. When is the injection? You may have told us already.

Tafoya, I hope this works for you. At least you are still trying options.
Shirley, I hope your fracture is healing and you do not have to wear the boot even part time.
Nothing new to say, It's like I never have anything to say anymore. It is like I do not know how to really have an enjoyable conversation. I hope soon that there will be a lot to say. My D is doing as much as she can. She still smiles. That is good. My 19 year old who finished in the top 10% of her HS of a class with over 500 can not do well in school. We have been having a hard time with her, of course she knows everything. I hope things can get better. I took my daughter to counseling so she can start dealing with all the things she must feel over the last 3 plus years. We hold her accountable for her bad choices and the councilor has advised that she really only communicate with her dad. So, not only did my family basically die over three years ago, the youngest has turned into someone I do not even recognize. She feels she is an adult and can do anything she wants, well my bottom line is doing puffs in my driveway, and I'm not talking about cigarrettes. I took to counseling the next day.
Not sure when or if we will ever be ok, know that I do read your posts, and to a few of you, I have tried sending emails, but they must not be making it. I hope you all are having a good November. Menzie

Tafoya: Such great news for you!! Please, could you share with us the name of your new pain doc, the clinic and the city he is in? It sounds like he is a jewel of a doctor! Congrats on your injections! I am sure you will feel much better after them!
