short report. More later
I ran this with my sister who is coming back from major knee surgery and asked me to train with her.
Short story 21432 (1015 pace)
I ran for and with my sister. She needed this. I have done this 30 minutes faster and likely could have gone sub 2 today. But I gave my sis my word that I would pace and run with her. She was only 1.5 minutes from her pr from 12 years ago.
Bad news is my Red shorts that I always race in, in honor of Abby (because Abby has heart that is why I race in red, my sister does too) have to be retired. They have a small hole and need to be put to pasture.
Despite not having much time to train and very few long runs, this was a good run for me mentally. I helped my sister over a major hurdle, will likely pace her during a full marathon in November and gave my confidence a big boost that the old man still has it.

I talked to S earlier and she was real excited and pleased with her time.
Cool that you ran with her. 4/6 of us have done that race now

My sister wanted to run <220 and I predicted she would do 225
she has an amazing ability to run at a consistent set pace.

Hay, nice race Joe. You did a very nice thing for your sister by setting your own race aside and running hers along side of her. I know. Good for you both!

Nice splits! Good to run and pace your sister. Isn't it hard to run slower than your normal pace?

Nice thing to do Joe. Sucks about those favorite shorts though. My favorite pair need to be retired also.... about a year ago.

Nice job with the pacing!
And you even ran in the same race as Deana Kastor setting the US record.

absolutely (at my sister's pace) I know I could run the distance at her pace. I am doing all of the long distance work up with her every other Sunday when I am off. I am not in the greatest distance shape but I am in pretty solid shape. I felt very strong at 10 miles for the half, like I could have cranked out some really hard miles. I have two solid months of distance training to work with.
