Ok, let's try with this sample!
Without logo or running AOL man Also no generic blue sea background! I think you'd like it Btw. The pics at the right top could be replaced with high quality member pictures! Although, it will be very hard for implementation (because of fluid design), but I think we're good enough to find the best possible solution on how to solve such tech issues.
I've used one of suggested slogans, but this is also easy to change. Of course it should stay short and clean
PS
The whole theme will be restyled to match this header!
Let me know what you think about this one!

I like it except for the way the a couple of the pics on the right are skewed.
Can you change the layer blending mode on the white paint stuff to "lighten"? I think it will look better that way.

Why? Please explain?

I've changed to 'lighten' but there're no changes. Anyway, I like the way they look now!

I think it looks great except for the white word 'RUN' is seem redundent on top of the forum name. Move 'The Need to Speed' over to the where the RUN starts.

Ok, well that's one of suggested slogans from another thread, but I like it. The Need To Speed sounds great, but is it ok for distance running???

Looks good, but I don't like the pictures or the slogan.

I like it better than AOL wannabe guy
looks like you're really trying to incorporate 'track' and 'field'
and just my opinion here. I used to be a sprinter...in another life.
I'm now trying to go farther, but speed is ALWAYS a factor for me no matter how far Fast is good, Faster is better.
You'll never please everyone. You know that already. I would tweak this one a bit by moving the "RUN...the need to speed" (or whatever slogan) to UNDER RUNNINGFORUMS.COM and to the right a bit, and make it BLACK not white...it kinda disappears right now.
kinda like this...but you'll have to move the shoe over, or lose the word "RUN"

I think the all the red strips between the different forums, etc. are distracting to the eye. I think the banner looks great, but all the other red is too much (thick).
Plus, red is a color that stirs emotions in a more aggressive way. Not that people are going to come here and attack other forum members, but it's not a pleasant color that will make people want to stay.
This is my $.02 and what I see/feel when coming here.

I do agree with JUJR's comment on the 'track'. 95+ %, I'd guess, of those who run here run road as opposed to track.
I suppose it's too late to suggest an 8 x 10 of my avatar for the banner, yes?
