The 10K final is scheduled to be shown live at 3:35 PM Eastern time, 12:35 Pacific. This is a late race at 10:35 PM in Athens.
The Ethiopians have a decent shot at sweeping the medals, as the Kenyans have had a tough time getting their act together recently. Abdi has a good chance at top 10. I'll be rooting for semi-local guy and friend-of-a-friend Dan Browne to pop a big one. I have no idea how Ritz might do. His ultra slow time at the trials wasn't an indication of his fitness, so if he is healthy he could still run well. Still with the slowest of the 3 Ethiopians still over 30 seconds faster than the American record, don't expect any American to be close to a medal.
The biggest story is an injured Gebrselassie trying to win 3 in a row, or more likely just trying for bronze to complete the sweep with Bekele and Sihine. It should be exciting!

How much time in advance do the Olympians know their Olympic schedule? That would have to be a tough starting time 1030 pm. I'd be asleep at that time myself. If I had a big race at that time I would have to do some training in that time frame to get used to it.

The schedule was announced a number of months ago - early enough that runners could decide well before thier national championships what doubles were possible at the Olympics. In fact, the US Olympic Trials schedule was very specifically modeled after the Olympic games schedule to be a good simulation. I imagine all of the 10K runners have been doing some hard night runs in preparation.

NBC bites.... I'm sure they've taped delayed it because of beach volleyball?!?!
Luckily, us Northern tier citizens with CBC on the cable array were able to tap in live! Whoa, what a race! New Oly record, 53-second last lap and 3:53 pace over the last mile. A-flipin-mazing. Wow.
I won't say who won until the NBC lovahs get their chance to watch

I don't really care who won, I just wanted to see the race. It didn't play until 3:35 central time here, right when I was leaving for work. I've definitely got nothing nice to say about NBC right now.

It was an amazing race. The Ethiopians were amazing dominant and really controlled the race. With a mile to go, they were just jogging to get Geb back in the race, and still the Kenyans couldn't touch them. That was a lot better race than the 27:05 showed as well. I haven't seen the full splits yet, but they were brutal even before the 53 second last lap!

I've just finished watching the race for the fourth time.
Coach Craig is right; what an amazing race. Timing with my stop watch off the video I got Bekele with a final mile in 4:01min the 800m. in 1:56min. and the 400m. in 53:02min.
All honours to the winner, but all the runners were great.
Did any of you notice the fourth runner from Uganda? Boniface Kiprop only 18 years old. He won the world juniors earlier, and to finish right up there in olympic competition was magnificent.
In an earlier interview Bekele said "we run in the hot sun, we run at altitude, and whats most important when I was born there was food"
If that dosen't put things in prospective I don't know what does.
