isn't there a number (other than 911) to call to make sure that flashing light didn't come from K-mart and joe perv is at the wheel impersonating a PoPo.
paranoia runs deep in the over 40 crowd. |
call 911, It happens. And the 911 people will be able to verify.

The power of a cell phone, no?
Let me dig that up, RR. There is a number you call from your cell to check. Something like 789#. I'll get back to you (unless, you know, Joe?) |
No number unless you know the local direct number but 911 really is the best because you will hit the closest tower which will route it to the closest police agency and route it to the dispatcher who has immediate contact.
Any doubts call. These incidents are extremely rare but go ahead and call, just make sure you are driving slower and explain why you did not stop right away.

Why do I get tickets when I'm with Mr. elkid, but can talk myself out of it when solo?
What makes one area preferably a "speed trap" over another?
If there's lots o' snow, is it illegal to park half in the driveway, half in the sidewalk if 1) no one can get to the sidewalk and 2) there are 5 foot snow drifts on either side of the car?
Why won't Philly cops let me ride their motorcycles when my tax dollars pay for them?
Is it really illegal to throw snow from your driveway/sidewalk into the street (I keep telling people it is: am I lying to them)?

Mr Elkid should not even get tickets. We generally give breaks to medics. Professional courtesy. They may save our life one day.

Sight lines mainly and accidents in the area or complaints received by public. They are also called speed checks. We do not trap people, we area checking for speed and stop violators.

Sidewalk must be passable. You could get a ticket but not likely. Unless someone complains really.

the same reason I cant ride in the paramedic truck. Insurance.
We do public ride alongs by special request but we would never let the person drive the car.

Yes. do not do it. We cite people for that.

So if someone is shoveling the crap into the road, and it messes up my run, I get to yell. Excellent!
Follow up question: is there really such a thing as a "citizen's arrest"? If so, how does one do this properly?

Not really. In PA, any one can file a private criminal complaint but no citizen can affect an arrest. We would investigate statement then act accordingly .
No offense but people do watch too much TV and have no idea how it really works.
