1. The wonderful diversity of people and ideas and the fact that we are all free to openly share them.
2. The physical beauty of the country itself. Beautiful mountains, beaches, plains etc....
3. The national anthem. It brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it played. Which by the way, yesterday I was at a Human Rights Coalition luncheon and a young woman from a local Baptist church sang the anthem...it was riveting. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

That we can speak out against the government without fear of imprisonment.
That we can choose our leaders

Ordinary people can do extraordinary things

The freedoms we enjoy, especially Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion
The right to vote and participate in our government
Like others have said, the diversity. But not just diversity of people, but diversity of land, from mountains to deserts, to swamp lands to farm land. I haven’t found a part of this country yet that hasn’t had it’s own, unique beauty.

I may criticize aspects of our government and even American culture, but I love the US and don’t want to live anywhere else. And that we are all free to do that, is the absolutely best thing about this country.

That's one of the most wonderfullest ( Wink ) things about this nation, methinks--the ability to criticize yet be safe.

There are so many wonderful things!!!

The physical beauty like someone already said.
The freedom to travel across the nation without borders.
The cultural diversity--especially culinary.

The freedom to worship.

the list goes on and on...

No one else wrote Diner Food?!!!!

And I get called a Communist? Wink

Joe Stalin wouldn't have let his people eat Hot Roast Beef sandwiches in converted train cars, I can tell you that!

But if he did, they certainly would've served vodka Razz

The fact I can drive to the election polls, park, vote, and never once feel threatened or coerced. Heck, I'm a woman, the fact I can vote at all! (ok, actually, my husband kind of threatened me, but that doesn't count)

Freedom of speech, especially when it's a civilized exchange of ideas and viewpoints. I may not change my position, but I often gain new perspectives on others.

The people. We may not have the whole civil rights thing down perfectly, but I'm willing to bet we do it better than most other places.
