Posted: 10/08/03 - 08:07 Post subject: My bike gear arrived last night!
Last week I ordered a headlight and cyclocomputer for my bicycles. The reason was I've been commuting by bicycle at 4:30am and it's just a tad dark then. I wanted to be able to see and be seen.
So they arrived in the mail yesterday, I immediatly put them on the bike and did a test run last night. They were good, but I'd have to wait until morning to see how much it really helped.
I rode this morning and they are nice. I can now see a good portion of the road, but more importantly, the other cars can see me.
Oh, and the computer. I found out that my route is actually a little longer then I thought it was and I found out that I average 17.3MPH for the ride. Not bad considering I'm riding a 50lb 10-speed with a dufflebag filled with my gear for the day on the back and all the stopping and starting for the stoplights and stopsigns. Oh, and I don't have clipless pedals, this bike just has platform pedals.

Being seen is good. I have an issue about being run over.
Great speed. Bike computers still have to be calibrated. I got mine dialed in on a marked trail.

Cool!
Being seen is always nice.
I've got bike stuff on order too, but it's nothing nice.

Why'd you order it?

Because I need new tires and tubes.

I'd have low self esteem if I were a tire or tube and knew I wasn't nice.

If you were black and made of rubber, just how much self-esteem could you have? The only thing you have going for yourself is your extra long valve stem.

Mine is close to being calibrated. I set it to the number the book says. I plan to do a rollout over the weekend. I only anticipate maybe one or two millimeters difference.
