I came across this article relating to health issues and running/biking. What does everyone think about this?

I didn't read the complete article yet but I will. It seems pretty obvious though that breathing in all those harmful things could be bad for you eventually. I am also asthmatic. However, I live in a very bucolic area and don't really encounter anything like they are speaking of. I do know for sure that since I began running 5ish years ago my asthma has improved tremendously.

I think it's absolutely true. Air quality in Baton Rouge is atrocious, so I try to get out of town at least once a week. Definitely run in an area away from traffic if it's an option - but that should be common sense. I'd hate to live in Los Angeles or someplace with worse air than here. I personally can't wait to be removed from this place.

I live 20mins from LA, but I can always see the smog on a bad day in the morning. Very thick grey cloud.. But going up to the local mountains in big bear it's very very clean. but that's 1 hour or so away.

Fortuneately I don't have much problem with that where I live... the air here is pretty clean and I also try not to run around traffic either.

I couldn't agree more. Last week I was in NYC for work and I ran from my hotel to Central Park (5 blocks) and then about 4 miles in Central Park. I noticed issues with breathing on the 5 blocks to Central Park. However, it did seem to get better once in the park. I live in South Dakota so I'm definitely not used to the air quality of midtown NYC.

Thanks for the article.

Yep, us people from SD and ND don't have to worry about it to much.
