Posted: 03/27/03 - 18:07 Post subject: Germantown 1/2 marathon
Well i finally have some free time to catch up,
sunday I did my 2nd 1/2 marathon, it was beautiful.
I felt great I didn't push it, the last 1/2 mile I must have passed atleast 25
people, I felt like I could have turned around and ran it again
I finshed in 2:08 , My last offical 1/2 was Nashville last year I ran 2:26.
So a big improvement but I could have ran alot faster, I was felling strange and just enjoying being "out", And nothing could ever compare to Mercedes hilly marathon a month ago so thats probably wht everything felt so easy.
It re-motivated me, I was planning on really uping my mileage and getting ready for the big home town 10k in 6 weeks.
I was playing with my 2 year old last nite chasing her, I stumped my toe
on the end of the couch, or I thought I did , I looked down and it was pointing off to the SIDE of my foot. Got to the E.R
and I was hoping I had just dislocated it, it really didn't hurt that bad,
NOPE broke in 3 places.
I have never had an injury , brrn running for 2 years, nothing,
AND NOW I break my toe!!!!!!
I cried when the er doc told me 6 weeks of no running, but I went to see a
Doctor{ can't remember what there called } HE is also a runner,
Made me feel like ITS not the end of the world
I will live thru it, And I will be better than ever when I return~!

Joy, Hokey Smokes! Bones stickin' out the side of your foot? Unbelievable. Hope the recovery goes okay. Six weeks will pass in no time. Can you still bicycle with a busted foot?
Big kudos on the halfM. That's a Pr! The sub-2:00 won't be long now.

Hey John! Yah He told me I could cycle and I could TRY to run in 2 weeks{ the runner doc said} if it didn't throw my gait off.
I could have had that sub-2, I know it, but we had shopped all day
that saturday, And I just didn't want to push it.I checked the results
and placed 14 out of 39 in my age group. Next year I will train just for that race. It was so nice. I also got 2 dys off work, so some good things happen!

Great job on the PR!!!! Rest up and no running before you're allowed to, you'll be back in no time.
