I want to get a watch that tracks my distance and pace. Heart rate does not matter to me. I'm going to be starting my senior year of cross country in about a month and I'll be running a lot. The main things I want to use it for are pace and distance. For distance, I'm not sure I trust what my teammates have been telling me is 3, 5, 6 miles, etc., so I want something that will be very accurate in the distance department. I've read that the GPS tends to lose the signal when you run around trees or tall buildings. We don't have that problem because we run in open neighborhoods, or on the track. Also, we do things like mile and 800 meter repeats. I want something that will tell me when I fall off of the target pace for these (i.e., if I want to run 5:50 miles, I want it to beep or something to tell me that I'm off a 5:50 pace, or that I'm going too fast). Which one will be better for me: the Forerunner 201 or the FitSense? Thanks a lot.

I don't own either, but I do own the Timex GPS. The GPS would be more accurate than the Fitsense, and there is no calibration required.

If given the option I would do the Forerunner

There is a pretty extensive review here you can check out. I have a Forerunner and love it. I've run with it in the city, in the woods, atop a mountain, and at the beach and have never had any problems with it. The pacing feature is a little wacky, but your average pace is correct. I've heard some people use the bigger strap it comes with to strap it to their upper arm (less swing, less pace variance). Distance is always accurate, unless you don't wait for the signal to be picked up before you start running. You can set it for different beeping options, too. For the money you can't beat it.

Ya know, somewhere in the universe a cosmic alignment just occured, 'cuz yes, I'll agree with Elkid. This Caveman runner owns one gizmo and only one, the Forerunner 201. I'd definitely recommend it for exactly what you're asking about. From what I've seen, it's about half the cost of the Fitsense too.

I've had them all, the Fitsense, which sucks, the GPS, which is better but it doesn't track your splits for you, you have to hit the lap button, and the signal isn't the best in wooded areas, and the Forerunner, which I just got and I like best so far.

Don't waste your money on the Fitsense, that calibration thing is a real pain in the ass and I found it to not always be accurate. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of the FR, then the GPS will work fine.
