Well, the really new idea to me was to make your own map. I think, especially for long races (10k - marathon) it can be extremely helpful. If you know that the hill is waiting for you, so you don't rush too much before it. This tip is really really good.
I found the last day before race is pretty nervous, especially if you want to make a good result, so a tip of reading a book and other stuff is good too Well, it's a very good article for runners, who are preparing for their races
