I was reading his schedules and they call for no carbs before or during your long slow runs but have carbs with the long fast runs. He says do long slow one week and long fast the next week. By long fast he basically has you start out slow and finish really fast in the last 3 miles.
Has anyone trained like this for the marathon? How did it work for you.
I can't imagine running for 2.5-3.5 hours with nothing in my tummy but water.
If you did follow this, and got good results please let me know.
Thanks, LM

I have never used that plan, but like you, I could not imagine doing my long runs without some sort of sports drink or gel. I still have flashbacks to long runs when I was just starting running and I did not use gels. Not a pretty site. But hey, it may work for some people.

never heard of it, but not eating/drinking and taking in fuel during the long runs sounds like a bad idea to me!!
